Young and Inspiring - II
About the Photographer...
Some may give the entire credit to the sophisticated equipment he uses. I would say, what is a sword in the hands of a warrior who is not as worthy as Arjun? What is the worth of a bat, if it were not weilded by Sachin Tendulkar or Rahul Dravid?
Rana Basu Thakur is a Kolkata-based freelance photographer who wears the proverbial multiple hat. He calls himself a "retyred" suit. Rana quit working in top management of MNCs after 2 decades and started a company to pursue his passion as a Photo-writer.
His passion has given fruition to numerous memorable brand and fashion shoots.
This avid writer doodles with prose n poetry and has also co-produced his first English film. He is raring to start his debut feature film as a director-cinematographer. All this apart, he balances his sanity running a couple of popular pages on Facebook on photography where he has chosen his subjects as people and food.

The Gear...
Rana uses a 5D Mark 3 with his my favourite 70-200 2.8 USM IS2 Lens.
A Story....
Every photograph of this self-trained photographer tells a compelling story. He loves more of a "live performance" when it comes to photography, he says. "I play with whatever exists at the scene in terms of light and the subject and try to bring out the soul in the frame," he says.
What Makes his Heart Sing?
So what is it that makes the photographer's heart sing when it comes to fulfilling his passion?
" The soul. I can see through it and unshackle it. I feel gifted sometimes...," he signs off.
